The Candy Salon

Digital Collage | 2011

Early in my art studies, I created a project to practice layering and masking techniques in Adobe Photoshop that aimed to emulate the effect of paper collage. The project involved tracing Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec's "The Salon in the Rue des Moulins" and replacing all of the color and linework with textures created using various photographs of candy. It was an interesting process finding photos with the color I needed, looking at textures and scaling or moving images to fit into the layer masks.

The final artwork showcases the techniques I learned and represents my experimentation with combining different colors and textures to achieve a unique visual aesthetic.
