Why the long face Gaddafi?
Graphite Illustration | 2012
This project provided an intriguing challenge in scaling an image. The process involved selecting a photograph of a prominent figure and drawing a grid to stretch the vertical size by 1.5 or 2 times the original proportions. While digital tools can accomplish this swiftly, manually distorting a person's features tests your accuracy. I chose Gaddafi as the subject, considering the recent Libyan Civil War and his recognizable status. Inspired by his demise, I titled the artwork 'Why the long face, Gaddafi?' in a playful and ironic manner. Although the photograph is from my older camera and lacks high depth, it remains a skillfully executed portrait. The shading and textures in his face are particularly well-rendered, and I utilized the full range of my graphite pencil set to achieve the desired effect.

And for reference the original photograph of Gaddafi at normal scale.
